Pete Davidson has slammed Kanye West after the rapper's "awkward" pro-Donald Trump speech.
The Life of Pablo hitmaker was booed following his appearance on Saturday Night Live last week (ends30Sep18) when he addressed the cast, crew and audience while wearing a 'Make America Great Again' red cap, which has become the symbol of Trump supporters.
"So many times I talk to a white person and (they) say, ‘How could you like Trump, he’s racist?’ Well, if I was concerned about racism I would have moved out of America a long time ago," Kanye raged.
On Saturday (06Oct18), Pete made an appearance during the comedy sketch show, and revealed that the rapper's speech made many of the show's stars uncomfortable.
"Speaking strictly for myself, what Kanye said after we went off the air last week was one of the worst, most awkward things I've ever seen here. And I've seen Chevy Chase speak to an intern," the 24-year-old joked. "We all had to stand behind him, and here is what it looked like."
Showing footage from Kanye's off-air rant, Pete is seen with his head down. "I'm here on the left and I'm like, 'Oh, God,'" he described. "And then I'm like, 'I want a career.' So I leave." The clip then showed him exiting the stage.
The comedian also slammed Kanye's claims he was bullied by people backstage at Saturday Night Live who insisted he not wear the pro-Trump baseball cap.
"So, Kanye was wearing a MAGA hat... and he started by saying people backstage tried to bully him into not wearing it," Pete explained. "He wore it all week. Like, nobody told him not to wear it. I wish I bullied you. I wish I would've suggested that it might upset some people like, your wife, or every black person ever."
While he described Kanye as a "musical genius", he criticised the rapper for his controversial and outlandish opinions on politics in the U.S.
"Then Kanye said that Democrats broke up black families with welfare, and that slavery is not real. Do you know how wrong about politics you have to be for, like, me to notice? Do you know how annoying that is?" he fired.
And when fellow SNL co-star Colin Jost asked Pete how Kanye could win his affection back, the comedian jokingly pulled out a red baseball hat that read "Make Kanye 2006 Again."
