Unseen footage from a private 2008 Amy Winehouse Grammy night show is to feature on a new DVD and blu-ray documentary package.
Amy Winehouse - Back to Black chronicles the making of the tragic singer's hit album and features interviews with producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi and the musicians and others who worked on the project.
The package, released on 2 November (18), includes footage from a lost live show in London from February, 2008, which has never been seen before.
The Rehab singer hosted An Intimate Evening in London at Riverside Studios for family, friends, and record company executives the night she picked up five Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Vocal Album.
The footage was locked away in the family archives until recently.
The new documentary comes three years after the release of director Asif Kapadia’s acclaimed 2015 movie Amy, which went on to win the Best Documentary Feature at the Oscars, as well as a BAFTA, a Grammy, and an MTV Movie Award.
News of the release comes just days after Paul McCartney confessed he regretted not spending more time with Amy backstage at the MTV Europe Awards in Liverpool in 2008.
"I knew she had a problem, and I ended up just saying hi, she said hi," McCartney told GQ, recalling his brief chat with Amy.
"Afterwards I thought I really should have just run after her (and said), 'Hey, Amy, listen, you’re really good, I really hope you...', and say something that broke through the despair. And she'd remember and think, 'Oh yeah, I'm good, I’ve got a life to lead'. But you always have those little regrets."
Amy died from alcohol poisoning at the age of 27 in 2011.
