Rihanna is so proud of the growth of her foundation's annual Diamond Ball, which took place on Thursday night (13Sep18).
The singer attended the fourth annual Diamond Ball, which benefits her Clara Lionel Foundation, a nonprofit organisation named in honour of her grandparents, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York on Thursday, and she couldn't help but gush to reporters on the red carpet about how the fundraising gala has grown since its inception in 2014.
"(I'm so proud of) the reception and the respect," she told Entertainment Tonight. "And to have people show up every single year, and to have the crowd get bigger and bigger every time. And even the people that donate things for the auction, it just means a lot to me to see the growth and to see people really believe in our causes."
She explained she has always wanted to help those less fortunate since she was young, adding, "That's always been my instinct. It's been my nature and it's the way I was raised. Those are traits that have come down from my grandparents, Clara and Lionel, who the Clara and Lionel Foundation is named after, so it's always been in me."
The 30-year-old stunned in a white lace jumpsuit with oversized bow skirt by Alexis Mabille Couture and sparkled with luxury jewellery for Chopard.
"It's the Diamond Ball so I kinda go crazy when I get to borrow (diamonds), and I don't have to pay for it," she added.
The event was hosted by Insecure actress Issa Rae and featured performances by Mustard and Childish Gambino. Footage posted on social media from inside the gala shows Rihanna enjoying Gambino's set while standing at the foot of stage.
Besides the performances, guests also enjoyed an auction which included lots such as a diamond anklet worn by Rihanna at the 2018 Met Ball, a Fenty Beauty holiday bundle, a trip to Las Vegas to see Mariah Carey's residency show, plus every Savage X Fenty item from the lingerie brand's autumn/winter '18 fashion show.
Celebrity guests included Tiffany Haddish, ASAP Rocky, Paris and Nicky Hilton, Ebonee Davis, Teyana Taylor, and Normani Kordei.
