Rapper Mac Miller has reportedly died from an apparent drug overdose.

The Goosebumpz hitmaker was discovered lifeless in his San Fernando Valley, California home on Friday (07Sep18) around noon local time, and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities, law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

Mac, real name Malcolm James McCormick, was just 26 at the time of his passing.

The tragic news comes just months after he was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) and hit and run in the Los Angeles area shortly after his breakup from pop singer Ariana Grande in May (18).

He allegedly wrecked his Mercedes-Benz G Class vehicle by slamming into a utility pole, and fled the scene of the crash. He later confessed to the crime when police paid a visit to his home.

The Los Angeles City Attorney's Office slapped him with two counts of DUI over the incident - one for driving under the influence and another for driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08 or higher, after Miller was found close to two times over the legal limit after the incident took place.

Shortly after his arrest hit headlines, his ex Ariana, who has now engaged to Saturday Night Live comic Pete Davidson, took to Twitter to share her concerns for her former flame.

"Pls (sic) take care of yourself," she wrote in a message to Mac.

Miller had previously opened up about his substance abuse struggles, confessing he became hooked on "lean" - a mixture of prescription cough medicine and soda, early on in his career after reading bad reviews of his 2011 debut album Blue Slide Park.

"A lot of the reviews were more on me as a person," he told Complex. "To be honest, that was even worse. You're 19, you're so excited to put out your first album, you put it out - and no one has any respect for you or for what you did...

"I was not happy and I was on lean very heavy," Miller added. "I was so f**ked up all the time it was bad. My friends couldn't even look at me the same. I was lost."
