Nicki Minaj and Nas have celebrated Serena Williams' return to the U.S. Open in their hometown of Queens, New York in a new Beats by Dre commercial.

The two rappers, who were romantically linked last year (17), feature in the new headphone commercial marking Serena's U.S. Open comeback, after missing 2017's tournament as she prepared to give birth to her first child, daughter Olympia.

The advertisement was launched on Monday (27Aug18) to coincide with the first day of the competition, and both Nicki and Nas shared the clip on social media.

In the Beats by Dre promo, Nas says, "In fair Queens, the conflict sits. Between two sides, our hero split," as a TV comes into view, with the screen featuring a card posing the question, "Mom or Athlete?".

The camera then cuts to Serena facing a struggle as she's pulled in two different directions, apparently representing her personal and professional lives, with the footage soundtracked by Nicki's new song Majesty.

A regal Serena then steps forward and is crowned the "Queen of Queens", as Nicki pops up onscreen and declares, "Now watch the Queen conquer."

Nas simply captioned his ad post with the hashtag "#womenpower @beatsbydre", but Nicki took the opportunity to heap praise on Serena, writing: "#SerenaWilliams - I speak for all of us when I say it's been an absolute pleasure watching you show us what it is to be a true QUEEN!

"Talented, strong, beautiful, intelligent, unapologetic, gracious, TRIUMPHANT, QUEEN!!!!!!

"It seems we are never skinny enough, tall enough, nice enough, strong enough, funny enough, sexy enough, pretty enough, classy enough, quiet enough... UGH! The list goes on & on & on & ON!"

"You are just getting started & have already become the BEST OF THE BEST," she continued. "CONGRATULATIONS SERENA!!!! We're dialed in!!!! LETS GO!!!!! #Majesty Love to ALL MY QUEENS! Proud of all of you! @beatsbydre @serenawilliams @nas".

Serena launched her latest bid for her 24th Grand Slam singles title on Monday evening, when she won her first round match against Poland's Magda Linette 6-4, 6-0. Williams will next play Germany's Carina Witthoft on Wednesday (29Aug18).

The tennis champ also turned heads with her choice of on-court outfit, wearing a one-shoulder black dress with a pleated tulle skirt, fishnet stockings, and custom sneakers, all designed by Louis Vuitton creative director and Off-White brand founder Virgil Abloh, as part of a special partnership with Serena's apparel sponsor, Nike.

The 36 year old's wardrobe for the U.S. Open is appropriately titled The Queen Collection.
