Nicki Minaj has announced she is releasing her album Queen on Friday (10Aug18), meaning it won't clash with Ariana Grande's record drop.

According to editors at Variety, the Anaconda rapper revealed on her new Queen Radio show on Apple Music's Beats 1 network that the album will be available to buy a week earlier than expected.

It comes as something of a surprise, as the release date has been shifted at least twice previously.

Earlier this month she pushed it back from 10 August to the 17th due to a sample-clearance issue with a Tracy Chapman song - setting her in direct competition with labelmate and collaborator Ariana, whose new album drops on the same day.

Queen will be Nicki's fourth studio album, and her first album release for four years since the double-platinum certified The Pinkprint.

She teased fans on Twitter when she announced her radio show, hinting that they get to hear new music.

"Swish swish I’m just gettin my curry on. G6 flow, all Louis V carry ons. #QueenRadio will be full of iconic surprises," she wrote. "Keep this hashtag in all your tweets & I may call you tonight LIVE ON AIR to give you some dope sh*t.”

Nicki has already released three singles from the album, Barbie Tingz, Chun-Li and Ariana duet Bed.
