Nicki Minaj has stalled the release of her much-anticipated new album Queen by a week to focus on clearing some last-minute samples.

The album will no longer be available on 10 August (18).

Nicki announced she was having to make a tough decision in a note to fans late on Tuesday (31Jul18), explaining she didn't want to risk any legal action once the album was released.

"So there's a record on Queen that features 1 of the greatest of all-time," she explained. "Had no clue it samples the legendary Tracy Chapman - do I keep my date and lose the record? Or do I lose the record and keep my date? Do we push #Queen back 1 week? Ugh, I'm torn y'all help."

She posted a poll to Twitter with both options and she has since decided to delay Queen an additional week until 17 August.

That means her new album will go up against her pal and Bed collaborator Ariana Grande, who will be releasing her Sweetener album on the same day.

This isn't the first time Queen has been delayed - Minaj's fourth album was originally supposed to drop on 15 June - and fans and followers aren't happy.

One suggested: "Nicki just release it you can afford it lol give her (Chapman) 2 million and be done," while another user added: "I’ve been starving for years waiting for this album and you’ve pushed it back TWICE. Ms. Minaj imma need you to reevaluate because I’m about to slide into your gated Caucasian community and key your pink Lamborghini... You've bamboozled me for the LAST MFin time...

"We barbz (fans) are about to start burning down cities if we don’t get this f**king album up in our wigs."
