Rita Ora had to make a last-minute train journey to a gig in Dundee, Scotland on Saturday (28Jul18) after her flight was cancelled.

The popstar was almost forced to cancel her concert in the city's Slessor Gardens after stormy weather in the U.K. caused mayhem at London's Stansted Airport.

Rita was one of thousands of passengers left stranded when planes were grounded, but dashed to the gig by making a six-hour train journey.

Assuring fans she'd make the gig, the R.I.P. singer wrote on Twitter: "The show must go on! Scotland I'm coming! The weather is s**t, flight got cancelled but that's not gonna stop me from getting there!"

The 27-year-old added that she had kept herself entertained during her long trip by watching episodes of hit U.K. reality show Love Island.

Despite her travel woes, the star finally made it on to the stage and performed a full set for thousands of fans.

Although the rain followed Rita to the show, drenched concertgoers praised her for her performance and those of support acts MNEK and Sigma on social media.

"What an awesome night spent at slessor gardens in dundee watching and listening and dancing to great music from @RitaOra @mnek and @sigma," one fan tweeted, while another reveller added that she gave a "truly amazing" performance.

Britain was hit by thunderstorms over the weekend, marking the end of a record-breaking heatwave lasting longer than a month. The downpours played havoc with several major music events, as Scotland's Mela Festival and ButeFest were both called off.

The final day of Camp Bestival in Dorset, England also fell victim to the weather, as the Sunday was called off, leaving headliners Simple Minds unable to perform. Classical singer Katherine Jenkins was also forced to temporarily abandon her concert in Norfolk, England to shelter from a torrential downpour.
