Britney Spears is standing firm in her refusal to grant ex-husband Kevin Federline's request for more child support.

The former couple shares joint custody of sons Sean, 12, and 11-year-old Jayden, but earlier this year (18), ex-dancer Kevin filed court papers hoping to double his monthly $20,000 (£15,300) child support payments.

He argued his income had drastically decreased in the decade since they last amended the financial details of their agreement, while the Toxic hitmaker's fortune has been boosted significantly thanks to her four-year Las Vegas residency, which reportedly earned her $475,000 (£362,500) per show until it wrapped for good at the end of 2017.

Attorneys for the exes headed to court on Friday (27Jul18), when Britney's legal representative made it clear she is not prepared to hand over extra funds to Federline, because the money should be more than enough to live comfortably for the time their kids spend with their dad.

In documents obtained by The Blast, Spears insists the monthly payments to Federline are on top of a string of other fees she covers for their boys, including bills for their private school, tutoring, sports and other extracurricular activities, clothing, cell phones, and additional necessary electronics.

During the hearing, her attorneys also requested to delay the case to allow them extra time to gather further financial documents from officials overseeing her ongoing conservatorship, a move Federline's representative challenged, insisting dragging out the proceedings will not be good for the exes' kids, who will soon begin a new school year.

In addition, Federline, who has four other children from different relationships, claims allowing the case to rumble on will cost him thousands in legal fees, which he has already fallen behind on, owing his attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan $80,000 (£61,000).

A ruling has yet to be made.

Britney has been under a legal conservatorship since her highly-publicised breakdown in 2007, when her father Jamie was put in charge of the singer's finances.
