Comedian Pete Davidson wore his heart on his sleeve during a stand-up show in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (06Jun18) by gushing about his "dope" relationship with Ariana Grande.
The Saturday Night Live castmember was supposed to be testing material at the Hollywood Improv gig, but he reportedly confessed he hadn't come prepared as he had been so consumed with his new romance.
Pete didn't reference Ariana by name, but the stars have been sharing sweet posts about one another on social media since they were first linked last month (May18), days after the singer confirmed her split from rapper Mac Miller.
"(Pete) said he didn't have a skit prepared because he didn't really want to be there," an audience member told E! News. "He said he's really happy and life's good so there's nothing to complain about."
Although he was hesitant to give Ariana a public shout-out, one attendee wasn't, and he smiled at the mention of her name.
"The first thing he responded with when they asked about Ariana was, 'It's pretty dope, huh?'," recalled another eyewitness. "That's when he started saying how he felt so lucky like he won the lottery and couldn't believe he was so lucky.
"He said he's gonna 'ride this one out!' After that, he kind of got into more of a comedy act, but it was pretty sweet because that was the most genuine and happy he seemed during the whole thing."
Pete recently cooed about his new girlfriend on social media after the pop star unveiled her British Vogue cover, for which she ditched her trademark ponytail and heavy cosmetics and let her blonde hair hang loose around her freckled face.
"Ummmmmm hiiiiiiiiiiii. i’m the luckiest contest winner ever (sic)," he commented on the image, prompting the musician to respond: "Nahhhh i am (sic)."
Despite only dating for a few weeks, Pete has already shown his dedication to the Problem hitmaker by having her initials tattooed on his hand and getting a second inking of a bunny mask - one of Grande's signature looks - inked behind his ear.
