Israeli-born, London-based singer-songwriter Irit has been announced as the special guest on Lisa Stansfield’s full UK tour this April.

Already an established singer, songwriter and entertainer in her home country (with a career that spans stage and screen), Irit made her UK live debut impressing audiences as support for Caro Emerald last year, followed by a successful run of headline shows this February. Commenting on this forthcoming tour, Irit says she is “very excited to tour with Lisa Stansfield in the UK. She has been such an influence on British music and is an artist I respect very much. I can't wait for this amazing adventure and to perform tracks from my new album around the country.”

That album ‘Hello’ (released March 2018 and produced by Jonathan Quarmby, producer of Benjamin Clementine’s Mercury winning album ‘At Least For Now’) revealed an artist who draws on the culture and sounds of her Middle Eastern upbringing, on her classical training and on her hunger to explore. Musically it could uniquely be described as akin to the Latin jazz of Astrud Gilberto possessed by the soul of PJ Harvey, and an acerbic injection of Irit’s personality has infused many of the songs with a hefty dose of satire, cheek and light-hearted cynicism.

Irit’s live performance - on which she is accompanied by guitar, accordion and percussion in an almost Ladino style – presents the effervescence and vitality of her music and the observational stories of her lyrics in a tight stripped back set.

“There’s no denying she does what she does very well – you can certainly imagine Jools Holland introducing her on the next series of Later, or Chris Evans starting everyone’s day off with a song like Just Because on Radio 2.”
