Every week, Music News and Liberty Music look at the best new releases from emerging and self-releasing artists.

This week we have singles and EP’s from some of the best upcoming artists in indie rock and electro pop.

SWOON – Teeth

Debut single, ‘Teeth’ compels with lyrics detailing a menacing obsession with the shape and style of a person’s smile. Blending a minimalist production style championing intense percussion and anxious rising synths, a compelling composition is created with an airy swagger and tribal-like atmosphere.

Matti Roots – Loving That

In the new single ‘Loving That’, Matti Roots bonds his love for soul, funk, trap and R&B in a sensual mix. A loose arrangement of slick house bass hooks and light hip-hop beats, the track has an instant feel good catchinessthat Matti is becoming quickly known for. Matti has been constantly making new music and after recently teaming up with Kwame Kwaten’s Ferocious label, he's now set to release an exciting collection of works, he’s been working on the last few years.

Flora Cash – Roses On Your Dress

The darker side of love is a theme demonstrated in the tone of their Flora Cash’s latest music video, ‘Roses On Your Dress’. Listeners will recognize the cinematic qualities of a melancholic Lana Del Rey ballad, accompanied by Cole’s brooding male vocals.

Lucie Barât – Be Uprising

British punk poet and singer-songwriter Lucie Barât’s latest release, ‘Be Uprising’ is politically charged, unapologetic and infectious. Barât’s tour will see her share the stage with her brother Carl on two occasions, providing a supporting act for The Libertines as they embark on their “…Tiddeley Om Pom Pom” tour.

You can catch her at these upcoming live dates: September 26th at Scarborough Spa w/ The Libertines and Ratboy, October 1st at Off the Cuff Festival, London, October 2nd – The Brighton Centre w/ The Libertines , October 19th – Tunbridge Wells Forum and November 2nd at Stickey Mike’s Frog Bar w/ Brix Smith.

Emmecosta – Velour EP

The fashionable trio, Emmecosta, released their stunning “Velour” EP on 25 August. Swedish boutique music label ICEA adopted the Positano natives to polish their dream-pop soundscapes. Listeners were introduced to Emmecosta’s music at the end of 2016 and the dawn of 2017 with the tracks “His Power of Youth” and “Miguel”. The synths, punctuated guitar and silky vocals evoke memories of Phoenix circa 2004. The remaining two tracks, “Heavy Heart” and “A Mountain From Us” blend pulsing waves of synths and echoing vocals. Tune in.
