Every week, Music News and Liberty Music look at the best new releases from emerging and self-releasing artists.

This week we have singles from some of the best upcoming artists in indie-pop and RnB.

Fond of Rudy – L O V E

L O V E’ stands in its own lane from past material, the fluorescent glare of their past singles has been dimmed and replaced with the sultry flicker of candlelight. Fond Of Rudy’s lead singer Matt’s vocals float smoothly over the band’s luminous textures creating a bold and delicate track that could fall in line with work of Blood Orange or The 1975.

Beach Riot – Slackers

Their newest single ‘Slackers’ leaves Beach Riot stripped with nothing to hide but only their distinctive rawness. Channelling influences from Queens Of The Stone Age and Pavement, dual boy/girl vocal harmonies and powerful guitar power chords all combine together in a huge sound that’s showered in grimacing lo-fi grit.

Ash Shakur – Never Alone

Ash’s new single ‘Never Alone’ deals with the issue of alienation, in typically upbeat fashion. Known for a soulful and positive approach to hip hop, musically he combines old and nu skool sounds with a lyricism that blends social commentary with personal goings on, often tackling sensitive topics in an uplifting way.

Butterjack – Other Worlds

Producer and songwriter Butterjack crashed into Summer 2017 with his debut single ‘Other Worlds’. The mid-tempo beat and consistent synth dominates the heartfelt track, which switches in the bridge to a more up-tempo, rhythmic chant that displays the innovation of Butterjack to blend two distinct sounds together effortlessly.

George Taylor – Ophelia

London-based singer/songwriter George Taylor is sharing his glimmering new single ‘Ophelia’. Layered with a sensual and powerfully constructed arrangement, the song occupies the same halcyon-spangled pop dimensions as ‘The Youth’ and ‘Give It Up.
