Jennifer Hudson will be joining the returning Miley Cyrus as a coach on U.S. TV talent show The Voice.
Hudson, who won rave reviews as a coach on the U.K. version of the programme, is now bringing her talents home as Alicia Keys' replacement on the American series.
The Oscar winner, who recently won The Voice U.K. with singer Mo Adeniran, has a reality competition show pedigree having previously appeared as a contestant on American Idol.
She will join Miley, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton in the big red spinning chairs later this year (17) for the hit show's next run.
Cyrus made her debut on The Voice last year (16), alongside Levine, Shelton and Keys. She'll sit in for Gwen Stefani, who, like Keys, is leaving the show after its current season.
Announcing Hudson's role on The Voice, NBC Entertainment alternative and reality group president Paul Telegdy tells Billboard, "Jennifer is an extraordinary vocal talent and one of the premier voices of our time. She embodies the experience, expertise, positivity and sheer talent that The Voice stands for.
"Her exceptional skills as a singer and actress have extended to film, television and Broadway, which makes her an incredible addition and a natural fit for our show."
Jennifer is also extremely excited about her new role, writing to fans on Instagram on Wednesday (10May17): "In tears thinking of what this means and represents to me and knowing and walking the journey ! Wow , who would of thought after being a contestant , that one day , I would be sitting in one of those chairs from the U.K. To the u.s! Only God !!!! Oh but I made it !"
The Voice was renewed for season 13 back in October (16), following its third Emmy Award win for Best Reality Competition.
