Singer Michael Buble will make his first appearance since taking a break from showbusiness to focus on his son's cancer battle at Canada's National Arts Centre Awards next month (Jun17).
The Canadian singer retreated from public life at the end of last year (16) after confirming the sad news his three-year-old son Noah was battling the disease in November (16).
He pulled out of plans to host the BRIT Awards in London and also axed a series of TV appearances as he and his wife, model Luisana Lopilato, staged a bedside vigil while Noah underwent cancer treatment in Los Angeles.
Luisana's sister Daniela recently revealed the couple's son is doing well and responding to treatment, and Michael released a statement in February (17), which read: "We are so grateful to report that our son Noah has been progressing well during his treatment and the doctors are very optimistic about the future for our little boy.
"He has been brave throughout and we continue to be inspired by his courage. We thank God for the strength he has given all of us. Our gratitude to his doctors and caretakers cannot be put into words."
He and his wife also thanked fans for their support throughout the health crisis.
Noah underwent surgery in December (16) to remove a tumour.
His dad is now ready to get back to business, announcing he and his wife will attend the awards show on 28 June (17) in Ottawa, where he will receive the National Arts medal.
"We are delighted that Michael Buble and his family are doing so well, and that they will all be joining us... All of Canada wishes the Buble family the very best," a spokesman for the National Arts Centre told ABC News. "Michael Buble is an exceptional singer and songwriter whose voice and stage presence have captured the hearts of audiences across Canada and around the world... We believe the award will be like a homecoming for him in 2017."
