Oscar-winning La La Land song City of Stars will go up against Justin Timberlake's Can't Stop the Feeling again at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.

The two tracks will compete for one of two new trophies, announced on Tuesday (02May17).

The Best Musical Moment category will also feature Ariana Grande and John Legend's Beauty & the Beast theme, Moana's How Far I’ll Go by Auli'i Cravalho, which was also up for Best Song at the Academy Awards in February (17), You Can't Stop the Beat by the cast of Hairspray Live!, Herizen Guardiola's Be That As It May from Netflix's The Get Down, and You’re the One That I Want from the cast of TV's Grease: Live.

The other new category, Trending, will features some of the most talked about moments of the year, including Melissa McCarthy's Saturday Night Live appearances as White House press secretary Sean Spicer, Lady Gaga's Carpool Karaoke on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Channing Tatum's performance of Run The World (Girls) with Beyonce on Lip Sync Battle, and Winona Ryder’s "winning SAG Awards reaction" at the 23rd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards, hosted by Adam Devine, will take place on Sunday (07May17).

Vin Diesel and his Fast & Furious franchise co-stars will be honoured with the Generation Award at the prizegiving, which will feature the first live TV performance of Pitbull, J Balvin, and Camila Cabello's hit collaboration Hey Ma, which features on the soundtrack to the latest Fast & Furious movie, The Fate of the Furious.
