Fifth Harmony star Normani Kordei is struggling through the pain of hip and back injuries as she competes on U.S. reality show Dancing With the Stars.

The Work From Home singer and her professional partner Val Chmerkovskiy have impressed on the TV competition week after week, and their Argentine tango landed them a perfect score from the judges on Monday night's (01May17) episode of the series.

"It all fell into place," Normani told Entertainment Tonight after showing off her moves to Andrea Bocelli and Jennifer Lopez's collaboration Quizas, Quizas, Quizas. "It happened the way it was supposed to, so I'm grateful."

However, the 20-year-old admitted she has been hiding some serious injuries as she lives out her dream on the programme.

"I just have to remind myself this is fun, this is something that I've always wanted to do, and I only have one shot to do it," she explained. "It's been a struggle. I'm a lot better than yesterday even. I had some therapy earlier, and I've been icing it and taking a bunch of medicine, so I'm in the process (of healing)."

Normani and Val are one of five couples left on the 24th season, and they are determined not to let a little pain stop them from making it to the final dance off.

"First of all, we want to make it to the finals, we're not there yet," Val said. "Once we do, we just want to do a performance that captures our energy and spirit. I think it should be fun. I think it should be a celebratory performance. And I think hopefully by then, we would have done every other genre (of ballroom dancing) where we could afford ourselves to come out and just have a blast."

Former Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan and reality star Nick Viall became the latest contestants to be booted from the show in a double elimination on Monday, joining previously ousted competitors Mr. T, Heather Morris, and Chris Kattan, among others.
