Selena Gomez was among the guests at the wedding of her former Wizards of Waverly Place co-star David Henrie.

The 27-year-old actor wed former Miss Delaware beauty queen Maria Cahill in a traditional ceremony in Southern California on Friday (21Apr17).

"You always hear you should marry your best friend, and I actually get to do it,” Henrie told People.com before their nuptials. “You don’t meet girls like her every day.”

Among the guests at the wedding were Henrie's Wizards of Waverly Place co-stars, including Gomez, who was initially going to perform at the ceremony.

The singer, who played Henrie’s younger sister on Disney’s hit show, was “one of the first people I told I was getting married,” he said. “She was like, ‘I’m in. Whenever it is, I’ll be there.'” She planned on performing a song at the wedding reception for the newlyweds, but Henrie insisted she enjoy the day and relax. "But it very well might (happen spontaneously)," he teased.

The cast of the hit Disney show all sat at a table together, and Henrie explained they had previously all bet on who would be the first to get married while working on the show.

"No-one bet on Jake (T. Austin) and I didn’t bet on Selena (Gomez). I probably bet on myself. I always knew I wanted to get married and looked forward to being a husband," he smiled.

The newlyweds will head off to St. Lucia for their honeymoon, and the actor said he's looking forward to spending time with his new wife. "It’s been such an ordeal leading up to (the wedding), so when you’re alone and you can finally exhale and look at each other... I’m really excited for that," he gushed.

Henrie popped the question to Cahill last year (16) in a romantic proposal on Catalina Island off the coast of California.
