He's held the Number 1 spot for the last six weeks, but Ed Sheeran could be replacing himself at the top of the Official Singles Chart this Friday with his brand new track.

According to today’s Official Chart Update, How Would You Feel (Paean) – Sheeran’s latest track reveal ahead of his new album ÷ (divide) – enters at Number 2 and is currently less than 700 downloads and streaming equivalent sales behind Shape Of You (1).

The last act to topple themselves from Number 1 on the UK chart was Justin Bieber, when Love Yourself replaced Sorry in December 2015.

Meanwhile, Take That are also on track to land a big new entry with their new single Giants. The lead single from their upcoming album Wonderland opens at Number 4 on today’s update, boosted by physical sales as well as downloads and streams, with two separate CD releases of the track also out this week.

New entries and high climbers

Norwegian DJ/producer Kygo starts at Number 10 with his Selena Gomez collaboration It Ain’t Me, while rising star Anne-Marie, who is up for the British Breakthrough Act prize at this week’s BRIT Awards, vaults 20 places to 20 with Ciao Adios.

Further down, Maroon 5’s Cold ft. Future shoots into the Top 40 at 29, Linkin Park’s Heavy ft. Kiiara opens at 33, and Sia’s Helium – taken from the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack – could become her 11th UK Top 40 hit this Friday, up seven places to 38.
