Rising Grime MC AJ Tracey was last night revealed as the winner of MTV Brand New 2017 with MTV UP! at the annual performer showcase featuring, previous Brand New act Sigala, alongside this year’s act’s Stefflon Don, Tom Grennan and The Amazons. The showcase performances will be aired on MTV Music on 3rd March at 9pm.
After a tense battle between acts vying for Instagram ‘likes’, AJ Tracey surged ahead of tough competition including Bishop Briggs, JP Cooper, Nadia Rose, Ray BLK, Stefflon Don, Raye, Disciples, Tom Grennan and the Amazons, with over an astounding 7,000 fan likes to be crowned this year’s winner of the prestigious title. AJ Tracey now joins the ranks of previous MTV Brand New winners such as Anne Marie, Justin Beiber, The Vamps and Krept & Konan, all of whom need no introduction.
AJ Tracey said: “Yo I'm stoked! Thank you MTV Brand New, and more than anything, thank you to all of my fans - you lot always ride for me and you really are the best!”
