The winners of the BBC Music Awards 2016 were revealed during a live star-studded show from the ExCel, London and Music-News.com was on the red carpet.

Hosted by Fearne Cotton, Claudia Winkleman and Gemma Cairney, the musical extravaganza took place in front of a live audience and broadcast to millions on BBC One and bbc.co.uk/music, and the show will be broadcast on BBC America on 15 December.

Jammed with breathtaking performances from some of the biggest names in the international music scene, five awards were given out on the night.

BBC Radio 2 Album of the Year was won by Adele – 25. As Adele was unable to collect her prize in person, her prize was presented by Matt Goss and Lulu and was accepted on her behalf by Robbie Williams.

Adam Lambert and Rebecca Ferguson presented the prize of BBC Music British Artist of the Year, which was won by Coldplay. They’re currently on tour so accepted their prize as they walked onstage at the Etihad Stadium, Melbourne, Australia, with Chris Martin saying:
“Hello BBC Music Awards, Fearne and Claudia, we are Coldplay and we just got told about winning this beautiful BBC Artist of the Year award. Sorry we’re not there, we are about to go on stage in Australia. Look at all those people and we love you and we are so grateful and we’ll see you so soon. Thank you so much and goodbye.”

Queen's Brian May announced her second gong: BBC Live Performance of the Year for Adele at the BBC, A BBC One Special.

“Hello again. I’m so sorry I’m not there. I’ll be home soon and I can’t wait. It’s been a long year on the road and this makes me a little less homesick.
