Former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson is in mourning after his mother Johannah Deakin died of cancer on Wednesday (07Dec16).
The 24-year singer's mother passed away at the age of 43 after a short battle with an aggressive form of leukaemia, according to a statement issued by her husband Daniel Deakin to Britain's The Sun newspaper.
"It is with immeasurable sadness that Johannah Deakin's family said goodbye to Johannah in the early hours of Wednesday 7th December 2016," the statement read.
"Earlier this year Johannah was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukaemia that required immediate and continuous treatment. We respectfully request that the family are given time and space to grieve in private."
In addition to Louis she leaves behind six children; daughter Lottie, 18, Felicite ,16, and two sets of twins, Phoebe and Daisy, 12, and Ernest and Doris, two, plus her grandson, Louis' 10-month-old son Freddie.
Dan, who married Johanna in 2014, paid tribute to his spouse, who worked as a midwife and was a dedicated charity campaigner.
He said Johanna was, "Incredibly selfless, she would always look to put other people before herself. She desired nothing more than for everyone around her to be happy and loving. She worked tirelessly on numerous charity campaigns, creating memories for many individuals and their families."
Calling his partner of five years "the perfect wife" and his "best friend", he said, "though five years was far too short a time, during that time we had so many lifetimes worth of happiness, adventures, and memories."
Daniel also thanked the medical team who treated Johanna at Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, England.
According to The Sun, Louis, who is set to launch a solo career, will perform on the penultimate episode of U.K. TV show The X Factor on Saturday (10Dec16) in tribute to his mum.
On Thursday (08Dec16), Louis' sister Felicite tweeted an image of a broken heart on Twitter.
Louis' last Instagram post, published on the social media site last month (Nov16) was also a picture of his mum with the caption, "My mother looking gorgeous before the Brits (Awards) earlier this year. I love and miss you so much!"
The pop star, is estranged from his biological father Troy Austin.
