Demi Lovato cannot contain her excitement after landing her first Grammy Awards nomination for her latest album, Confident.

The Heart Attack hitmaker achieved a career milestone on Tuesday (06Dec16) when she scored a mention in the Best Pop Vocal Album category for her 2015 release, and she promptly took to Twitter to celebrate the news.

"Woke up to the most amazing news EVER!!!!!!!" she tweeted. "Wow... thank you SO MUCH to @RecordingAcad!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #GrammyNominations".

Demi will face tough competition from her fellow Best Pop Vocal Album nominees Adele, Sia, Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande, but she insists it's "an HONOR" just to be recognised by officials at the Recording Academy.

"I still can't believe I've been NOMINATED FOR A GRAMMY...." she added. "You guys have no idea how unbelievably grateful and happy I am.. Wow... #pinchme (sic)."

The Grammy news is a dream come true for Demi, who had vowed to grab the attention of the Recording Academy with her latest material back in February, 2015, eight months before Confident was released.

"I've never been more confident in my sound... Never felt this hungry and driven," she tweeted at the time. "The only word that comes to mind is authentic... What I can say is this will be my best work yet... F**k trying to make music that will appeal to the masses for the sake of hit songs... It's a new journey... A new chapter in my life and I'm so f**king ready. I WILL get a Grammy nomination one day. No more f**kin around. Let's go!!!!!"

Her close pal Joe Jonas was among the first to congratulate his ex-girlfriend for her hard work.

"So proud of @ddlovato and her GRAMMY nomination!," he wrote. "This is huge. You deserve this."

Beyonce leads the nominees heading into the 2017 Grammy Awards with nine nods for her hit Lemonade album, while Drake, Rihanna, and Kanye West follow closely behind with eight each.

The 59th Grammy Awards, hosted by James Corden, will take place on 12 February (17) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
