Mariah Carey's assistant broke down in tears when she couldn't get the singer's digital media device to work in the premiere of her reality show Mariah's World.

The new docu-series debuted on U.S. network E! on Sunday night (04Dec16), chronicling the start of Mariah's European tour.

Prior to the singer arriving in her hotel room, Mariah's assistant Molly was given the task of setting up her Apple TV - a digital media streaming device - which she uses to help her sleep.

“The Apple TV - that’s the most important thing for Ms. MC,” Molly told the camera. “If she can’t have the Apple TV playing while she’s sleeping, then she can’t sleep. If she can’t sleep, she can’t perform. If she can’t perform, there’s no show. If it’s not there, everything else falls apart.”

Struggling to get things working, a frazzled Molly enlists the help of the hotel staff to wire up the device. But when that still doesn't work, Molly ends up sobbing - breaking one of the two main contract rules set by Mariah's manager Stella Bulochnikov.

Mariah's maid Maria then attempts to comfort Molly, saying: "It’s not you. This is not your fault… you want something to eat?”

Other notable scenes from the reality series premiere included Mariah making the decision to postpone her wedding to James Packer because of her tour.

Speaking to her manager Stella about how to fit in the wedding while trying to plan the European tour, Mariah said: "I just…I don’t…I don’t know because he keeps asking what we’re doing with the dates and when he asks…I don’t want to disappoint him and I feel really bad. And so now I’m sitting here going, ‘How do I even do this?’”

The couple have split since the series was filmed, following a row during a holiday in Greece, with Mariah now dating back-up dancer Bryan Tanaka.

A potential romance between Mariah and Tanaka was also hinted at in the series, with the pair hugging after reuniting following first working together in 2005.

While all the male dancers rehearsing for Mariah's Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour took their tops off, Bryan kept his on, with Mariah admitting it was okay because she "remembered (it) from the last time." A member of Mariah's team then admitted that Bryan "does have a crush on her."

The reality series also showcased many of Mariah's "diva" moments, much to the delight of her fans. One scene showed Mariah swimming in a haute couture dress and lashings of diamonds, telling the camera: "Whatever, this is perfectly normal. Everybody does this."
