Fergie is taking her time on her second solo album because she is determined to "get things right".
The 41-year-old singer made her musical comeback with her single M.I.L.F. $ in July (16). The track was the first taken from her upcoming record Double Dutchess, which has yet to be given an official release date.
In a new interview, Fergie was asked why there has been so much delay with Double Dutchess, to which she answered that she isn't rushing into the release because she's busy perfecting the finishing touches.
“I just want to get things right and I just don’t want a whole bunch of random songs out there,” she told PopCrush. “I just wanted it to really mean something ’cause it’s my second (solo) album."
Fergie's second single from the record, Life Goes On, delighted fans upon its release last month (Nov16), with many praising its catchy tune. When it comes to the sound of Double Dutchess though, Fergie insists it is more intimate than her previous offering.
“It’s totally different, because with the Peas, we’re all just partying and going to clubs,” she said. “(But) with this, there’s some of that on the album, but there’s also that part where it’s like, I get to open the pages of my journal and let people really in.
“It’s like serving a meal, I didn’t just want it to be one thing."
Fergie also spoke about Double Dutchess during a Facebook Live Q&A with fans, in which she revealed she is hoping for the record to hit shelves in early 2017.
"I am so ready for this album to come out, you have no idea," she smiled. "I’ve turned it in, it’s done and it’s coming out at the beginning of the year. I’m sorry it’s taken so long to those of you who have been waiting so long but I have a kid and a husband and I need to sleep and I just really care about it. But I hope it will be worth it."
