Kanye West reportedly went to the hospital "freely" after an incident at trainer Harley Pasternak's home on Monday (21Nov16).
Following news of Kanye's hospitalisation, reports emerged that the father-of-two had been handcuffed to a gurney for transport to the medical centre.
Other rumours included that Kanye had been committed against his will under a 5150 psychiatric hold after "acting erratically" at trainer Harley Pasternak’s home, but an insider told People.com the allegations were false.
"There was a small altercation at the gym but he was deemed medically stable and decided to seek medical help at his doctor’s request," the source revealed. "He went to the hospital at will under the advice of his physician. He’s fine."
The insider added that Kanye "went freely" and "was not restrained".
He is now undergoing psychiatric evaluation at the UCLA Medical Center, but was "medically stable" when he was taken to the hospital, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department told People.
Kanye's personal doctor Dr Michael Farzam called emergency services following the incident on Monday, telling responders that the rapper, who he gave the alias "Jim Jones", was suffering "from temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration", according to TMZ.com.
The incident occurred just hours after Kanye announced the cancellation of his Saint Pablo tour, following a slew of erratic events including a rant about friends Beyonce and Jay Z at a concert over the weekend (19-20Nov16).
It is thought that the rigorous schedule of his tour, combined with stress over wife Kim Kardashian being targeted in a traumatic armed robbery in Paris, France, last month (Oct16), led to Kanye's breakdown.
Kim and several of her family were seen jetting to Los Angeles to be with Kanye at the hospital. Kim had earlier flown to LA to support her spouse, while Kris Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian were seen arriving on Tuesday (22Nov16).
“Family and friends are around. Kim is being amazing. As are all of his friends and team and inner circle," the insider added to People.
