Lady Gaga thanked fans for their support after she shared her battle with chronic pain on social media.

The singer posted a photo of her shoulder being treated by a doctor, just days before she is due to take to the stage at the American Music Awards (AMAs) on Sunday (20Nov16).

"Having a frustrating day with chronic pain, but I find myself feeling so blessed to have such strong intelligent female doctors," she simply captioned the shot on Friday (18Nov16).

The Poker Face hitmaker also talked about her late aunt, who inspired her latest album Joanne. "I think about Joanne too and her strength and the day gets a little easier," Gaga added. "Plus I got @wanaynay (manager Bryan Campbell) by my side."

And on Saturday (19Nov16), the 30-year-old took to Instagram to thank her fans after being inundated with supportive messages.

Posting a photo of her wrapped in a silver thermal blanket - commonly used by emergency services - while sat in an infrared sauna, Gaga shared details of her health woes.

"I was so overwhelmed by the empathy, confessions & personal stories of chronic pain in response to my previous post I thought what the hell," she wrote. "Maybe I should just share some of my personal remedies I've acquired over the past five years."

Describing her regime of treatments, the award-winning singer and actress said when her body goes into spasm, she uses an infrared sauna wearing a thermal silver blanket, followed by a very cold ice bath.

"Hope this helps some of you," she wrote. "It helps me to keep doing my passion, job and the things I love even on days when I feel like I can't get out of bed. Love you and thank you for all your positive messages."

Gaga is due to headline the AMAs on Sunday and then fly to Paris, France to film her performance at the first Victoria's Secret Fashion Show to be held in the city on 30 November (16).
