Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles was responsible for organising the Destiny's Child 'Mannequin Challenge'.

The singer recently teamed up with former bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams as the trio struck a pose for the social media craze, where participants do their best not to move.

The footage of the singers together again, shot at Kelly's son Titan's recent second birthday party, sparked rumours that the ‘90s girl group could be reuniting musically. But Kelly insists the three-piece frequently see each other, and the video was actually thanks to Beyonce's mum, who is always on the pulse when it comes to what's hot and what's not.

“We pretty much get together a lot. And of course people got a chance to see that because we felt like sharing,” Kelly told Entertainment Tonight. "And it was actually Bey's mom, Tina. She's like y'all should do the Mannequin Challenge, and I'm looking over like, ‘How do you know about the Mannequin Challenge?’ She knows about everything cool, by the way!"

The Destiny's Child girls aren’t the only ones trying their luck at the Mannequin Challenge; Adele, Britney Spears, Blac Chyna and even First Lady Michelle Obama have all stood statue-still for videos which have quickly gone viral, and Kelly is a big fan of the Internet phenomenon.

“I don’t even know who started this Mannequin Challenge, but I think it's freaking genius. Now it's up in the White House, you got Destiny's Child doing it. It's just really crazy but it was very cool,” she said.

And while the video caused a stir among fans desperate for new material from the trio, Kelly is currently concentrating on her solo offerings. Speaking about her upcoming, as yet untitled, fifth album, the 35-year-old told the outlet: "It's one of my favourite records that I've recorded so far. I wanted the record to be authentically me. And I've done that."
