A tearful Miley Cyrus has accepted Donald Trump will be her nation's next leader.

The pop star was spotted voting at a drive-by polling station in California on Tuesday (08Nov16), and has since made it clear Republican Trump was not her first choice.

In an emotional video posted on Twitter on Wednesday (09Nov16), Miley broke down in tears as she shared her thoughts about Democrat Hillary Clinton's defeat, stating, "I still think in her lifetime, that she deserved to be the first female president, and that's what makes me sad, is that I just wish that she had that opportunity, because she's fought for so long and because I believe her when she says she loves this country.

"It's all she's ever done. She's given her life to make it better."

She then urged her fans and followers to join her in accepting Trump's win.

"He said, 'You can't always get what you want', and Happy Hippies we adjust, and we accept everyone, who they are," she added. "And so, Donald Trump, I accept you. And it's hard to say, but I even accept you as President of the United States."

She ended her heartfelt message to the nation by thanking current leader Barack Obama, adding, "I want to say thank you for everything you've done these past eight years."

Miley has been among Clinton's biggest celebrity supporters after initially siding with Bernie Sanders, Hillary's rival for the Democratic nomination.

Last month (Oct16), she campaigned for the former First Lady at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

Not all celebrities were upset about Trump's shock victory - outspoken rapper Azealia Banks took to Facebook on Wednesday to celebrate his win and attack Clinton supporters Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.

"They said Katy and Gaga was backstage crying," she snorted. "I would have laughed real hard and loud right in their faces. All these celebrities thought their dry a** celebrity power was gonna sway the people but this is just proof of how stupid the American people are NOT."

Insisting the Republican is her "hero right now", Banks added: "America deserves a WAAAAAAAY better first female president then trash a** Hilary (sic)."

Perry has also accepted Trump's win, urging her fans to fight on and welcoming a revolution, while Gaga staged a protest outside the Trump Tower building in New York on Wednesday morning (09Nov16).
