Demi Lovato is facing criticism over a message she posted on Twitter about U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and Tuesday's (08Nov16) election.
Shortly after the Republican was elected the 45th American President, Demi referenced Trump's misogynist comments leaked from a decade-old, off-camera Access Hollywood interview last month (Oct16), in which he joked his celebrity allowed him to "grab women by the p**sies".
"Sometimes you have to agree to disagree and grab by some p**sy (sic)," Trump critic Lovato wrote.
The tweet Demi, who supported the new leader-to-be's Democratic rival Hillary Clinton throughout the election campaign, posted was met with a barrage of criticism, with many of her fans accusing her of not taking the election seriously, calling the distasteful. Demi subsequently removed the message and apologised.
"I apologize for the joke I made earlier... seemed to offend some people," she wrote. "Just making light of the election."
On Monday (07Nov16), Demi tweeted her support for Clinton, writing, "#IVotedBecause I believe in equality, we need comprehensive immigration reform, I am pro-choice and global warming IS real. #ImWithHer."
"Personally #ImWithHer, but regardless - it's so important that all Americans vote tomorrow no matter what," she continued.
The latest Demi-related controversy comes a month after she announced she would be taking an extended hiatus next year following comments she made about Taylor Swift in a new interview with America's Glamour magazine.
During the discussion, Demi slammed her fellow singer for "tearing Katy Perry down" while promoting her hit single Bad Blood, a song reportedly written about the pop divas' infamous feud.
When Swift fans caught wind of Lovato's remarks, they attacked the 24-year-old online, prompting Demi to defend herself against the heavy criticism.
