Country couple Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will kick off the holiday season in New York by headlining the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting event later this month (Nov16).

The pair will join Dolly Parton, Tony Bennett, Neil Diamond, Josh Groban, Tori Kelly, and Sarah McLachlan at America's biggest switch-on party.

Garth and Trisha will be performing songs from their new holiday album, Christmas Together, which features songs like Ugly Christmas Sweater, Merry Christmas Means I Love You and What I’m Thankful For, which also features folk singer James Taylor.

Brooks and Yearwood aren't the only country stars releasing Christmas albums this year - Rascal Flatts have recorded The Greatest Gift of All, while singer/actress Jennifer Nettles, Loretta Lynn and Kacey Musgraves have also released holiday albums.

The real-life country couple recently teamed up at the CMA Awards - the 2016 Entertainer of the Year winner and Trisha recalled some of country music's most famous duets, beginning with Johnny and June Carter Cash's Jackson and including Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty's Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man, and George Jones and Tammy Wynette's Golden Ring.

The upcoming Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting event - the city's 84th - will revolve around a 90-year-old Norway spruce from Oneonta, New York. It will be decorated with more than 50,000 multi-coloured lights.

Christmas in Rockefeller Center will be broadcast in America on 30 November (16).

Meanwhile, Nettles will be getting in the festive spirit by hosting and performing during the CMA Country Christmas special.

The TV show will feature holiday tunes from Dan + Shay, Kelsea Ballerini, and new dad Charles Kelley, among others. That show airs in America on 28 November (16).
