Beyonce and Jay Z helped Solange celebrate her Saturday Night Live (SNL) debut at an afterparty in New York on Saturday (05Nov16).

The 30-year-old hit the stage on the U.S. sketch show to perform her new songs Cranes In the Sky and Don't Touch My Hair, from her album A Seat at the Table.

Following the show, the Drunk in Love stars and Solange and Beyonce's mum, Tina Lawson, joined the singer backstage to congratulate her.

In a video on Instagram, Beyonce and Tina hoisted Solange in the air, while she joked, "I'm 30 years old!"

"She's still our baby," Tina captioned the video. "We have Been picking her up like this since she was 10 yrs (years) old. On the legendary SNL stage."

"Soo proud of my baby on SNL," Tina wrote in another message on the social media site.

SNL castmember Leslie Jones also joined the family backstage and for dinner after the show, and posted pictures on her Instagram page.

"What up!!," she captioned one photo with Jay Z.

"Yuuuuuuuuup!!," she simply wrote beside another photo with Beyonce and Jay Z.

Solange wasn't the only celebrity to make her SNL debut on Saturday - actor Benedict Cumberbatch also hit the stage for the first time to host.

The Oscar-nominated actor played up to his sex symbol status and was accompanied by a bevy of women, including Leslie, as he started his opening monologue.

Referencing the upcoming presidential election, in which Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton will go head-to-head at the polls on Tuesday (08Nov16), Cumberbatch joked: "So, nice to be hosting on the last week of America as we know it.

"We Brits deal with it this way: we drink. We drink so much!" he laughed, as he gave viewers tips on how to survive the political craziness.

Comparing his attention from the ladies to that of a crowd at a Barry White concert, he continued to read off a list of his accomplishments, including movie The Imitation Game, for which he was nominated for an Oscar earlier this year (16).
