Nick Cannon has praised his ex-wife Mariah Carey for "keeping it moving" following her break-up with business mogul James Packer.

Last week (27Oct16) the pop star's publicist confirmed she and the Australian billionaire had split, but according to the Shake It Off singer's ex-husband, calling off her engagement with James hasn't curbed Mariah's happiness in the slightest.

"It’s all love," Cannon tells Extra. "You know how that is. I think the media comes up with all this speculation and stuff, but everybody is keeping it moving… that’s what it’s all about.”

The speculation Nick is referring to is the numerous rumours suggesting Mariah and James ended on bad terms following an alleged altercation in Greece.

Cannon is clear the gossip surrounding the cause of the split is bogus, insisting it's all just a repeat of his break-up with Mariah.

"It’s just like it's something new everyday," he says. "The news cycle is always something for some reason, I'm constantly in it. It doesn't bother me because I don't really, I don’t feed off of it - I'm an open book. Someone asks me a question, I answer it but I'm not really trying to dig in too deep. Things are always movin' and groovin’, but as long as we are rooted in love and family, that's the most important thing.”

Nick and Mariah, who have reportedly finalised their divorce after calling it quits in August, 2014, share five-year-old fraternal twins Moroccan and Monroe, and he claims she is finding refuge in caring for the tots amid the Packer split fallout.

Most recently the family came together at Carey's annual Halloween party, where Moroccan entertained the crowd with his DJing skills.

“He was literally rockin' the party till midnight," Nick jokes.
