Celine Dion was "touched" to be able to pick up an award of behalf of her late husband Rene Angelil.

Music producer and talent manager Rene lost his battle with cancer in January (16) at the age of 73, leaving behind his wife of 21 years and their children Rene-Charles, 15, and six-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy.

Rene is never far from Celine’s thoughts, and on Sunday (30Oct16) she got to pay tribute to her late husband by accepting the Felix trophy for him at the 2016 ADISQ Gala.

"Of course it was a great honour for me to receive trophies over the years, but to be here to receive a trophy that’s not for me, that’s even more touching," Celine shared backstage, reports montrealgazette.com. "He’s not physically present, but I’m sure he’s here tonight. I don’t think he missed any of this, and I’m sure he’s very proud."

The gala was held at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier of Place des Arts in Montreal, Canada.

Canadian superstar Celine looked glamorous in a delicate lace top paired with a floor length black skirt featuring a thigh high split. Both pieces were adorned with red love hearts.

Taking to the stage to collect the award, Celine told the audience: "Not only one of the greatest visionaries of the Quebec music industry. He was also one of the biggest fans of musical artists that ever existed.

"He had an immense respect for people who had that passion. Rene always thought of others before he thought of himself."
