After a month long battle between some of the world’s most dedicated fan groups, the winner of The Box Plus Network’s ‘Last Fan Standing’ has been unveiled. Voting in their millions, fans of the likes of Rihanna, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Fifth Harmony and Lady Gaga took to the web this month to prove their worth as the ultimate fanbase in the UK.
And with a whopping 40.7% of the vote out of ten powerful groups, the fandom that has taken this year’s title is… Fifth Harmony’s Harmonizers!!
The Harmonizers have fiercely shown their support for the US girl group Fifth Harmony who boast two Top Ten hits in the UK and having sold 8.5 million certified records in the United States, have emerged as the most successful alumni from the X Factor US. It is the ‘Work From Home’ singers’ first time in The Box Plus Network’s ultimate competition, and their fans took to Twitter to ensure that their official hashtag was the most used above all others, making it trend multiple times to prove their worth.
On their road to victory, Harmonizers beat tough competition from Rihanna’s Navy who sailed into second place with 17.7% of the vote, and The Arianator’s (Ariana Grande) who climbed to third position this year with 10.3% of the votes. The results may come as a blow for Taylor Swift, whose fan group The Swifties took the ‘Last Fan Standing’ crown in 2014, but failed to reclaim the title this year. However, did her fan group prove more powerful than rumoured frenemies Katy Perry and Kanye West? Tune into Trending Live! – Last Fan Standing Special this Friday 30th September at 4pm on 4Music to find out.
