Britney Spears suffered a slip up onstage in London on Tuesday night (27Sep16) when she lost her confidence just before a backflip routine.

The pop star brought a stripped-down version of her Piece of Me Las Vegas show to London's Roundhouse venue as part of the Apple Music Festival and among many missteps, the Toxic singer appeared to lose her nerve during a signature move.

Britney was asked about her return to the London stage during a BBC chat on Wednesday (28Sep16), and when the botched backflip came up, she confessed she suddenly had a mini-panic attack onstage.

"I freaked out," she said. "I put my hands up and there was a new guy there.

"Usually I have my signature guy who helps me with it, every night for the past three years. But it was this new guy."

"It wasn't his first day but it was his first time to touch my back and I couldn't do it," Spears added. "He's actually more muscly than the (usual) guy and I should've been more confident."

The slip-up didn't upset fans, who included Sam Smith and Rita Ora - they were thrilled as Britney ripped through her greatest hits, including ...Baby One More Time, Toxic and Womanizer.

The concert at the Roundhouse was Britney's first London concert in five years.

The superstar has previously spoken about her ongoing battle with nerves onstage, telling the UK edition of Marie Claire magazine in a recent interview she has battled anxiety for years.

“If a hair was out of place, I’d be so anxious," she revealed. "I would get very anxious about so many things.”
