Kanye West gave Chance The Rapper's inaugural Magnificent Coloring Day Festival in Chicago, Illinois a big boost by hitting the stage for a surprise set.

The event, held at the U.S. Cellular Field on Saturday (24Sep16), featured special performances from Young Thug, Lil Wayne, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Skrillex, and Tyler the Creator.

But it was Chicago native West who drove the crowd wild with his unexpected appearance, playing a medley of his hits, including Black Skinhead, Can't Tell Me Nothing, Touch The Sky, Gold Digger, and Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1 and Pt. 2.

Chance himself also joined Kanye for a rendition of their The Life Of Pablo collaboration, Ultralight Beam.

"Got so busy I didn't get to say thank you to all the #MCD artists that did this for the Southside. Today was historic for Chicago," Chance tweeted after the event.

It was a busy weekend for the 23-year-old star, as Kanye wasn't the only rapper to make a surprise appearance at a Chicago music event.

Prior to hitting the stage at his own Magnificent Coloring Day Festival, Chance stopped by hip-hop veteran Common's AAHH! Fest, held at the nearby Union Park, to treat the crowd to hits like No Problem, Blessings, and Sunday Candy.

Common's two-day festival, which first launched in 2014, included Saturday sets from John The Author, DJ Mike P, The Pack Drumline, Retro Gibson, the J. Money Dancers, with Sunday's (25Sep16) line-up due to feature performances from J. Cole, Ice Cube, Vic Mensa, Jeremih, The Roots, and Sir The Baptist.
