Fast-rising UK indie quartet Marsicans today reveal the video for their brand new single ‘Your Eyes’ out now through LAB Records.

Marsicans singer/guitarist James Newbigging speaking about the video for 'Your Eyes' says “For this one, we teamed up with our friends at Sodium, an independent film company based in Leeds who are doing some amazing things. The video basically shows our alternative selves watching our real selves performing. So it's something of a "what might have been" if we all didn't choose to pursue a career in music, tying in with the song's main theme about choosing your path in life.”

The track, produced by Mickey Dale and mixed / mastered by multi-Grammy award winning duo of Fernando Lodeiro (Paul McCartney, Vampire Weekend) and Joe LaPorta (David Bowie, Imagine Dragons) Your Eyes sees the band turn introspective, taking on a much grittier approach to their indie-pop sound than previous singles. Speaking about the single, Marsicans bassist/vocalist Rob Brander explains, "Your Eyes is a song about a particular time in my life when I felt I was being left behind by those around me. Everyone I had grown up with was making these big ‘life’ decisions and overarching plans for the future, whilst I was still treading water. I wondered what they might think of me, or whether they were secretly feeling unsure of them-selves but putting up a front. I think it’s impossible not to judge ourselves by the suc-cesses of our peers. Musically, the song went through a few different forms before ending up where it is today. James had a riff and a chorus that inspired the song ini-tially but neither actually ended up in the final version, despite even having been played live once or twice. We'll be playing this new version on our upcoming live dates."

LAB Records' digital release will be accompanied by a limited edition 7" vinyl picture disc via Come Play With Me Records (release date 22 March, pre-order link: smar-turl.it/youreyesvinyl). Vinyl B-side Tallest Stories, not available elsewhere, is the first Marsicans song to feature an entire lead vocal from Rob Brander. A special in-store vinyl signing show will take place in Leeds’ Jumbo Records (21 March).

‘Your Eyes’ picks up from Marsicans ("MAR-sick-anz") most recent releases: ‘Sub-urbs’, summer-jam ‘Pop-Ups (Sunny at the Weekend)’, and ‘Wake Up Freya’. The Leeds band went from strength to strength in 2018: a sold-out UK tour, BBC Radio 1 stage slots at Reading and Leeds, main tour supports to Fickle Friends, JAWS, Clean Cut Kid and US indie band Hippo Campus in the UK and Europe; an ongoing run of six singles, all supported by Radio 1 as well as New Music Friday and Apple Music playlistings. Not to mention live sessions filmed for BBC's legendary Maida Va-le studios, Mahogany and Distiller, a Samsung Galaxy worldwide ad sync and tracks featured on MTV, BT Sport and the opening credits of E4's Made In Chelsea.

Media support comes by way of Sunday Times’ ‘Hottest Tracks’ (Pop-Ups (Sunny at the Weekend)), Dork, CLASH, All Things Go, Earmilk, Wonderland, The 405, Official Charts and #2 on Hype Machine's Top 10 Most Blogged Artists of the week for ‘Pop-Ups (Sunny at the Weekend)’.

There is even more in store for 2019: a headline tour with BBC’s Abbie McCarthy in the Spring, massive shows still to be announced, singles scheduled for February and early summer and a debut album in the works.
