Sonny is back with the captivating, poignant follow up track ‘Let Love’, out now via Never Fade Records. The exceptional UK rising singer-songwriter also announces the release of his highly anticipated acoustic EP ‘Beech Road’ out 22nd March.
A self-written track, ‘Let Love’ was sparked by a candid conversation with his mother. It takes inspiration from Sonny’s recent relationships and his mother’s advice, which was that you don’t have to force love into your life, but real love will come as a pleasant surprise. Sonny’s impeccable raw vocal takes centre stage as it leads the stirring stripped-back production which blends guitar chords with soft strings and gospel harmonies to create a deep emotional soundscape.
On ‘Let Love’, Sonny says: “‘Let Love’ came from a time where my love life was all over the place and I craved a relationship and having someone there, rather than being on my own. So, I spoke to my Mam and she said let love come to me rather than going out looking for it. I thought this was such a great piece of advice. The next week I took the idea into a writing session and the song was formed.”
‘Let Love’ and last single ‘Sweet Dreams’ comes after Sonny’s successful EPs ‘Hopeless Romance’ (2017) and ‘Northern Nights’ (2018). His music has received huge support from Spotify with multiple placements in their ‘New Music Friday UK’ playlist, and from Apple Music with track inclusions in their ‘The A List: Singer/Songwriter’ playlist – Sonny has now impressively racked up 10M streams worldwide. In addition to this, he has gained accolades from BBC Introducing and top tastemaker publications including Wonderland Magazine, NOTION, CLASH, 1883 Magazine and FAULT Magazine.
The South Shields born multi-instrumentalist exudes a classic 50s/60s aesthetic and obtains a soulful rich vocal that sounds way beyond his years, influencing his impressive gift to consistently produce timeless pop classics. Sonny has performed live at festivals including Secret Garden Party, Boardmasters and The Great Escape, as well as headlined London gigs at Servant Jazz Quarters (sold-out show), Thousand Island and recently headlined in Brighton at The Prince Albert. He has also supported Gabrielle Aplin, James TW, Catherine McGrath and Saint Raymond on tour and was a part of Barbour International’s summer campaign 'Barbour International Sessions' in 2018, which included performing on their stage at Malle Mile festival.
From starting to sing at the age of 14-years-old where he gigged at local spots in Newcastle, to now a 19-year-old effortlessly confident performer playing to thousands of people nationwide. Sonny continues to perfect his craft, proving that he is remarkable talent unfolding. More live shows to be announced soon.
