Marissa Nadler’s new album, For My Crimes, will be released next week via Bella Union and Sacred Bones in the US. It’s being heralded as one of the most anticipated records of the fall from The A.V. Club, Boston Globe and Vulture. Earlier this month, Nadler shared her third single, “I Can’t Listen To Gene Clark Anymore,” and now has an accompanying video featuring her peer Sharon Van Etten.

It pairs well with the previous “Blue Vapor” and “For My Crimes” clips. The monochrome complements the sound of turmoil giving way to truth. For My Crimes stares down the dark realization that love may not be enough to keep two people together through distance and differing needs. Nadler has found a stronger sense of self and a sharper voice as both a songwriter and a vocalist, culminating in her most evocative entry in an already impressive discography. Marissa Nadler – I Can’t Listen To Gene Clarke Anymore (featuring Sharon Van Etten)

With the sound of turmoil giving way to truth, “Gene Clark” and the rest of the songs on For My Crimes stare down the dark realisation that love may not be enough to keep two people together through distance and differing needs. By asking these difficult questions about her relationships, Nadler has found a stronger sense of self and a sharper voice as both a songwriter and a vocalist, culminating in her most evocative entry in an already impressive discography.
