Due to development on its namesake site, Treasure Island Music Festival has found a new home. After a one year hiatus, TIMF will return on October 13-14 in Oakland, CA at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park. Located on the Oakland’s western shore, the site maintains much of the breathtaking view TIMF was known for. The event is presented by two Bay Area based music promotion companies. Another Planet Entertainment, established in 2003, puts on Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park each summer and books many of the Bay’s best venues. Noise Pop, established in 1993, puts on their weeklong Noise Pop Festival in venues across San Francisco each winter.

The 2018 TIMF lineup is as eclectic as ever. Saturday features a more hip hop centered roster of artists with recent releases. Headliner A$AP Rocky dropped his third album, TESTING, this May 25th. The young Harlem legend is joined by the revered Pusha T, who has seen no shortage of headlines this year in the midst of his battles with Drake. His controversially covered album DAYTONA dropped the same day as Rocky’s. The other major Saturday acts like Silk City (Mark Ronson & Diplo), Santigold, Moses Sumney, and Amine have all put out new albums or singles this summer as well.

Sunday is decidedly more rock heavy. Australia’s world beating Tame Impala top the bill. It’s been over 3 years since Kevin Parker and co. dropped the dazzling Currents, so it’s possible he could have a single out by then given he has been in the studio of late. Pond, made up of several current and former Tame Impala members, never seem to stop touring. They’ve released an album at least every other year since their inception in 2012, so there’s always plenty of fantastic new material. A third Aussie sure to turn heads is Alex Cameron. The darkly suave crooner is one of the quirkiest acts on the circuit. He’s turned famous musicians from fans in to collaborators with the likes of The Killers’ Brandon Flowers and Angel Olsen writing and featuring on his 2017 breakthrough release, Forced Witness. Rounding out the list are big draws like Courtney Barnett (a FOURTH Aussie), Lord Huron, Jungle & U.S. Girls.
