In recent weeks, several local artists have been trying their hand at achieving success in foreign waters, and following in the footsteps of Marilena Gauci and Sarah Micallef Muscat, this time is a male singer/songwriter.
Mikhail Attard, known to many for his commanding tone of voice, and supporting actor status on the television series “Ħbieb u Għedewwa” has made it through the audition process for X Factor UK.
Firstly, he got through the 1st stage performing “Rule the World” by Take That, receiving positive yet constructive criticism and a ‘red ticket’ granting him the chance to perform during the 2nd stage. There, he decided to perform “The Greatest Love of All” by Whitney Houston, and was given a ‘yellow ticket’. He got through to the 3rd stage where they asked him to perform a song of his liking, and being a theatrical performer, Mikhail chose to interpret “Bring Him Home” from the movie musical ‘Les Miserables’.
Through his social media, Mikhail Attard thanked his support system saying “would like to thank my tutor Glen Vella for working hard in order to get me ready for the auditions, my manager Marc Calleja Bayliss for his tremedous support. My family especially mum Maria and dad, sister Sabina Attard and brother Nicholai Attard for tremendous support”.
He closed off his message by saying “Let’s HOPE for the best :D” as he awaits in anticipation to learn his fate and whether he’s through to the next stage of the audition process which would mean that he would get to face the nasty Simon Cowell. He is thrilled to have made it this far, already.
