Rudimental, the Hackney four-piece that have brought us some of the best hits of the last year arrived on stage at the O2 Academy Brixton to a rapturous crowd last week and Music News were there to witness the magic.
Nominated for three Brit Awards, its not hard to see why, as their chart-topping album 'Home' has hit after hit on its tracklist. Its no wonder also that all three of their Brixton shows are completely sold out because when you arrive at a Rudimental gig, you know you're going to party hard.
With the audience ready to go, the four-piece arrived on stage alongside the whole Rudimental 'crew' of guest singers and musicians. The edgy and talented backing singers such as Anne Marie and Sinead Harnett both bounced and jumped around the stage with Leon Rolle aka DJ Locksmith as they got the crowd even more hyped up.
Rudimental are like a family, you can feel it, see it and hear it; no matter who joins 'the family', everyone seems to slot right in. This is backed up by the fact Ella Eyre and John Newman, who feature on two of their biggest hits, were absent and yet the guest singers did extremely well in their place. Lianne La Havas even made a guest appearance at one point for the song 'Breathe'; as did Becky Hill for the new single 'Powerless'.
Highlights had to be 'Not Giving In' and 'Waiting All Night'; the tracks you just let your head bounce, roll and do whatever it wants all whilst singing at the top of your lungs to the catchy and infectious lyrics.
One thing's for sure, Rudimental are THE artists you need to see live; you arrive ready to party, you do party and then you leave wanting to hit a club! The whole collective are on a level where both their talent and fun combines to create an atmosphere every fan wants; to hear good music and party like its the last time. I don't know if you can tell but I loved it; well done Rudimental!
