What Now - Move Like A Sinner - Printable version
Hailing from South Africa, the trio that make up What Now moved to the UK a few years ago to try and make their mark. This proved to be a disaster as the three eventually split up and went their different ways. They met, by chance, at a gig and decided to try again, bringing in the different strands of music that they had developed while their paths were in separate directions and ‘Move Like A Sinner’ is the result – it sounds as though the hiatus did them a lot of good because this combination of Indie, beats and rock hits the mark – hard and fast.

The sound is furious, poppy and hard with a fresh edge and a hugely danceable feel to it.
‘If Looks Could Kill’ has the machine gun attack of Enter Shikari but the harmonies and vocals could be Duran Duran at their peak.
The title track is dark and powerful with a dense synth-bassline and a huge height to the sound while ‘Back To Blood (Part 1)’ shows that they can do dirty as well as sassy.

This isn’t totally original but they make a great noise and it really is perfect Saturday night music – the sort of thing to liven you up before an evening of debauchery and fun (and probably to carry you through it as well.
