Long.Live.A$AP is the long awaited debut album by American rapper A$AP Rocky. After bursting into the scene with mixtape Live.Love.A$AP in 2011, expectations were high for Rocky’s new album and he did not disappoint.

From start to finish, Rocky flows seamlessly from bar to bar, song to song. Although he is not the fastest rapper around, he utilises his voice to its full potential, allowing his songs to be distinct as well as giving him a unique sense of individualism, which makes him stand out in the current world of rap.

The first single released from the album was Goldie. The contrast between the light beat in the background and the deeper pitched voice used for the chorus is pure genius and the hooks are amongst the best he’s produced. The lyrics are catchy although not the kind you’d want to be caught singing at work!

Problems, is another single off the album and this time features a collaboration with other rising stars such as Kendrick Lamar, Drake and 2 Chainz. This song has deservedly been more of a commercial success for Rocky due to the catchy hooks which feature throughout the album as well as the surprisingly uplifting nature of the chorus.

A final song worth a shout is 1 Train featuring Joey Bada$$, yet another rising star. The song features yet another classy beat, which is overlapped by the vicious, hard hitting lyrics to make one of the best songs on the album.

Overall, Long.Live.A$AP is a solid album and shows why A$AP Rocky is one of the fastest growing stars on the US rap stage. People were worried about fame getting to his head, but he came back with the same underground ethic that will hopefully bring him the
success he deserves.
