This could be Wednesday 13’s year. It marks his 20th anniversary in the music industry and his eponymous band’s 10th year peddling horror punk ditties. Wednesday’s songwriting has always been nothing short of prolific and this highly anticipated release is without question his greatest album yet.

The Dixie Dead is jam-packed with slick guitars, smashing drums, crushing vocals and colourful, humour-riddled lyrics in salute to Wednesday’s celluloid obsession. Second track Bloodsucker, which cannily rhymes with motherf*cker, launches with his unequivocal screech. It’s a shot in the arm for his army of fans, who should be rabidly excited about this release.

Wednesday has always been mayor of modern horror punk ville, and on the strength of this album, it’s about time he was made governor. The band play the UK in March including a London show on Wednesday 13th.
