Known best for her time spent fronting Morcheeba, Skye Edwards is about to release her third album, ‘Back To Now’, featuring the single; ‘Featherlight.’
Despite Morcheeba’s career slipping from the public eye and Skye’s own career declining year after year, her future release is set to change her path.
However, Skye is now back fronting Morcheeba after previously leaving to start her own solo career, but with the upcoming release of ‘Back To Now’, will her career in Morcheeba continue?
As lead singer for a quite a successful band formed in the early 90’s, it is quite difficult to drastically change your own sound as a singer. The track ‘Featherlight’ is surprisingly upbeat, but you won’t be too shocked as it barely differs from the sound of Morcheeba. An infusion of retro mixes underlined by sophisticated pop, it isn’t a chart topper, but ‘Featherlight’ most definitely hooks you within the first few seconds.
It’s club music at its best, electro-dance pushing its way back out onto the scene.
If you’re a fan of Crystal castles, then be sure to check out Skye Edwards, bordering with similar sounds and that constant upbeat rhythm, it’s right to say that Skye Edwards isn’t to be written off so quickly.
‘Back To Now’ is scheduled for release on October 29th, a follow up to 2009’s ‘Keeping Secrets.’
Tour Date:
Nov 1 - Bush Hall, London
