With a name like ‘Chew Lips’ this band is likely to get some attention, maybe for the wrong reasons. What kind of a name is ‘Chew Lips’?!?! Really? Anybody? No?
Aside from the unfortunate name, I still don’t like the song. It’s not brilliant but it certainly has some ‘unique’ qualities. The into was slightly misleading as I thought it was going to be an electro-pop song and to some extent it was, but not really. Most of the music seemed to be synthesized and I can hear some auto-tuning going on which doesn’t particularly add anything special.
The lyrics weren’t my cup of tea either; some of it was just a bit cringe-worthy if I’m honest. “Sooner or later I’ll get you undressed, and see all of the scars you bear” 50 Shades of Grey much?
In all honesty it’s just not a very good song, it was the name that sent it into a downward spiral! If you like rubbishy pop wannabe songs then go ahead and enjoy but I think you’ll find yourself in the minority there!
