Joe Forrester catches up with UK rapper, producer, singer and songwriter Lyracis. Lyracis has supported the likes of 50 Cent, Chris Brown, The Game, Ne-Yo and many more and has been mentored by Matthew Knowles, father of Beyonce. The video for his new single Speakerphone has got nearly 650,000 views (accurate up to Tues 6th March) since its release on January 5th and he has been named in MTV’s Brand New Top 20 Unsigned for 2012.
He uses a range of samples in his music and takes his influences from all over, including Hip-Hop, Rock and Electro and often remixes tracks by artists as different to himself as Coldplay and Adele and puts a rapper’s perspective on them. The end result is anthemic, addictive UK rap that is sure to soon be sweeping the charts.
In this interview watch as Lyracis discusses being darker than Tinie Tempah, his obsession with oral hygiene and becomes the first ever guest on ‘The Jeremy Mole Show’!
