She may be New Jersey born and resident of Boston but this lady is country through and through and this is a lovely piece of work.
Combining a very warm and rich voice with excellent songwriting this really is a fine follow up to ‘Brave & Wild’ from 2009.

From the rootsy ‘Gotta Get Gone, and through the delicious ‘Baby We Fly’ – maybe the perfect song for Valentine’s and featuring superb pedal steel from Tommy White – to the uproarious ‘Girl’s Night Out’ she manages to deliver all the best things that country can offer and without any embarrassment or apologies either.

The backing musicians are superb and include guys who have played with Nashville royalty; just one look at drummer Paul Leim’s cv, which includes Roy Orbison, Elvis, Neil Diamond, Shania Twain and Dolly Parton, will tell you that these guys recognise talent and won’t sully their own rep with any old crap. When you add in Pat Buchanan’s guitars, Glen |Duncan’s Fiddling and the ever wonderful Dave Mattacks (ex-Fairport Convention & Richard Thompson) the apparent respect is even greater.
None of this would mean anything unless the songs are there and there really isn’t a filler amongst the twelve tracks here.

The music is romantic, soulful and the songs talk about real feelings and emotions as well as strong characters: the result is an album of real quality that hits you right in the chest.
